Yama ( or やま) meaning "mountain" in Japanese. 

Our Yama matcha is our super high grade ceremonial, first harvest, single cultivar organic matcha. It is a fuller bodied matcha with a natural sweetness, less bitterness and a very refreshing flavour profile featuring light umami and a strong fragrance and aroma (we recommend a deep inhale while whisking). This matcha has a warming effect on the body and provides a creamy smooth drinking experience. It has notes of toasted pistachios and dark chocolate and has slightly vegetal and floral endnotes too. 

This is a super rare okumidori matcha that hails from the mountainous Shizuoka prefecture in Japan. We recommend this matcha for the true matcha lovers out there. It is delicious enjoyed on its own and also as a latte. 

Okumidori cultivar teas are considered some of the finest, most flavourful teas. The colour of our Yama matcha is no exception–it’s a bold and vibrant green with a clean and bright taste. Unlike most matcha, the aftertaste is less bitter and more naturally sweet, in part thanks to the growing region.

Keep matcha in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. If you don’t plan to consume your matcha within a month of opening the tin, store it in the refrigerator or freezer to preserve its flavour.

 

Expiry: Unopened, the matcha will last approximately 1 year however we recommend enjoying your matcha quickly after opening for best results.
