Our Hana matcha is an okumidori matcha that hails from Yame, a city on Kyushu Island in Japan, famous for its tea. Tea grown in Yame is known to have a very round taste with vibrant colour, natural sweetness and low astringency and bitterness. This is due to Yame’s climate, which is optimal for tea growing.
To this day, my Obaachan (grandmother) always requests that friends and family bring back tea from Yame when they’re visiting Japan because she loves it so much.
Our Hana matcha is bold and vibrant in colour with a deep and rich flavour. It’s aromatic with some umami notes that linger on the tongue. We named it “Hana” because it hails from an area in Yame famous for its flowers.
