Shima (島 or しま) meaning "island" in Japanese.
Our Shima matcha is great for everyday consumption and a great place to start if you're newer to drinking matcha. It is an organic, high grade ceremonial matcha. It’s a medium bodied, lower umami matcha with a bolder flavour. It's lightly fragrant with a deep green colour. It has a good aroma with low astringency and an invigorating sweetness. Notably, it’s a clean, fresh aftertaste that lingers in the mouth. This is a yabukita and samidori cultivar blend.
Our Shima matcha is grown on the island of Kyushu. While matcha did not originate in Kyushu, it was where tea was first grown in Japan. This matcha is perfect for your daily matcha ritual, perfect for all applications.
